Luiz Tenório is a Technical Director at Rovio’s Stockholm Studio. Born in Brazil before moving to Sweden and joining Rovio, Luiz oversees a team of developers, guiding a wide variety of planning, coding and programming.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a passion for games and technology. I first started programming when I was 10. I went on to earn a master’s degree in computer science before working as a software and mobile developer. As a Technical Director at Rovio Stockholm, I get the opportunity to employ my skills while guiding an incredible team, and I’m pleased to share that we’re expanding!

Rovio Stockholm is known as the team behind Angry Birds 2, but our mission is to become one of the world’s best mobile RPG developers. While there’s a lot that goes into realizing this goal, it starts with a talented group that prides itself on open communication and creativity. There’s room for innovation throughout the game design process, from concept to prototype and ultimately to market. We’re continually testing new ideas and analyzing data to guide our decisions, which can originate from any member of the studio, a true testament to our unified culture.

Beyond Stockholm, we have a great dynamic between all of our offices, especially with Rovio’s headquarters, located in Espoo, Finland. Each studio has creative freedom, and there’s constant dialogue and collaboration between the teams to ensure we’re all doing the best work we can.

I can tell you from personal experience that the culture here is very accepting. The people in Stockholm are warm and respectful, and everyone in our office does their part to make sure you’re comfortable. Rovio covers the costs and logistics of moving and helps employees find housing, set up utilities, and generally adjust to the new lifestyle.

While many people join Rovio from within the video game world, don’t feel intimidated if you’re from another industry. I came to Rovio after working at a financial startup and can tell you firsthand that if you love games, consider making the jump — you won’t regret it! All of our studios are hiring immediately, with open positions in game design, programming, UI, art, and more. And all jobs can begin remotely.
