According to the IGDA, 74% of the development community identifies as male and 68% is caucasian/white. Women continue to represent a minority of the global games workforce despite the fact that women represent one half (if not more) of the playing audience. Building a diverse workforce is increasingly important, and companies that don’t will get left behind. Men need to do their part, but women who are already in the industry can help mentor others joining an industry that doesn’t always feel welcoming.
